Still mangled, just less so
To help me with my Dutch, I found this great little language speaking web thing. Real technical name, huh? Officially, it’s something like the Acapela Group HQ TTS Interactive Demo but let’s just call it the language speaking thing anyway.
Even if I can garner some idea of how a Dutch word is to be pronounced, I usually have trouble determining how many syllables a word should have (that happens when you toss 12 consonants in row like the Dutch do). This takes care of that.
The best part, I think, is the option to change the voice speed. It makes it possible to pronounce words like bijizudelijk (not a real word) and waarschijnlijk (sadly, a real Dutch word). Ask Femke how to say it. She won’t steer you wrong (I’ve yet to actually check this with a Dutch person. She could, in fact, make you sound like an idiot.)
