The Start Of A Revolution

My word, I thought I would never doubt google. It’s hard to imagine doing my job without it. Lame, I know. But the phone book is downright archaic.

So we google. So often, in fact, that the brand is synonymous with searching, like kleenex with tissue and xerox with copies. I hate to say it, but I’m thinking it’s time to switch brand loyalties. There’s ChaCha now, a google-esque search engine that incorporates instant messaging. In essence, a trained guide sits waiting to answer your question as he or she wades through the thousands of pages of search results for you. It’s the real-time equivalent of Ask Jeeves. Except it works.

Brilliant. Or at least, for me, efficient.

Give it a shot. Ask it anything (clean, at least). So, how do you feel about ChaCha? Don’t know where to find something? Just ChaCha it!

Doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? Worth a shot.

To me, this google-esque (google-ish? ;-) ) search engine works! Who knows, maybe I’ll be using it more often! Allthough it’ll be hard to type chacha.com in stead of google.com. Google became (at least to me, as a student) allmost a way of living! :-D

No kidding! I’m curious though … you really use google.com, not google.nl?? … any reason for the preference?

    Thanks dutchie!

I’m a ChaCha guide in training although I’ve been bad about doing my training sessions. Glad to hear that others are learning about it.

    writergirl,
Wow, how on earth do you go about joining ChaCha? Sounds cool. Good luck with the training.

  5. writergirl says:

Well I frequent several bargain hunting websites (because I love a good deal) and was told about it on one of those. You have to be invited to become a guide by another guide. Eventually after you reach a certain level in the training you are paid for it. I really haven’t had the time to devote to the training and I don’t have a clue how much you get paid once you are at the paid level.

Interesting idea. Was too slow for me tho.

I need instant gratification–and that means instant answers.

    Viva la Google!

Though I must say, I’m flattered when I asked for a place to find out more about Mac’s his first suggestion was MacTips :)

  8. Dutchie says:

Uhmm.. Why google.com? I don’t know, it’s quite funny actually, now you’ve mentioned it. I type google.com, but the page redirects me to google.nl :-S And I keep on typing google.com, it gives me the feeling of keeping up my English ;-)

  9. kellyjasper says:

Brad, you’re still up with MacTips? I thought you sold that …

Dutchie, your English is perfect as always!

Hmm got really bad search results when searching in Swedish. Only spam sites and thin affiliates. Maybe it works better in other languages…
