Things You Should Read

Not a great blog headline, but “I’ve linked to a few stories I think you might enjoy, so would you like to take a moment and read them and perhaps tell me what you think, please?” was a bit too lengthy.

Golf Lessons With GodI’ve officially passed the one-month mark at The Augusta Chronicle, and I’ll tell you … I’ve been amazed at the richness of story possibilities here. It’s fascinating to see faith interact with virtually every facet of life. So far there’s been the Chrisitians who started their own karate center, Stewart Cink talking just before the Masters Tournament on the big three G’s: God, Golf and Georgia, and the Buddhist temple that serves as a cultural refuge for dozens of Thai women who have moved to the U.S. Check out the photos on that one, taken on Vishaka Puja Day. Some beautiful, beautiful stuff.

Then again, one of the things I’m loving is the opportunity to mix up my beat work. I expected to do previews and profiles having crossed the aisle into features, but I underestimated the stories out there. The Chronicle recently published this story about an oh-so-patient asparagus gardener. And this story on hydroponic tomatoes came out over the weekend.

Speaking of profiles, I’m off to an interview now. Thanks all!
