The Word To The World

Stories like this are always a challenge, but this one was a pleasure to write. It’s always hard to capsulate a person or group in a few inches of copy.
On a side note, my byline will be MIA for a few weeks as I’ll be out of the newsroom recovering from surgery.
From Humble Location In […]

Dressed For Dierks

It’s no secret I’m not an entertainment writer. My lack of pop culture knowledge has gotten me into a jam more than once and, most recently, at the Rockingham County Fair this week. I was asked to write up a short feature about the Dierks Bentley show (for those of you just as clueless, he’s […]

‘You Only Die Once’

She’s been driving Greg to National […]

Vegas, The Valley and Back

This is a story I really enjoyed reporting last week, especially amid all the normally routine graduation coverage. Such an interesting fellow. I’ll be out of the newsroom for the week and a half. I’m flying to Amsterdam with a few folks from my church, where we’ll be volunteering for the week and connecting with […]

Clips Update

Several new clips are posted to the clips page, most written in the last several months.
The resume page is also updated with new awards added.

Awards season

I unfortunately missed the weekend’s Society of Professional Journalists conference in Richmond, so I wasn’t on hand when James Madison University racked up a few awards.
We compete in region 2; that’s Virginia, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
Congrats to Jill Yaworksi of JMU who won third place in “non-fiction magaine writing” for a piece titled […]
